Representing self in Family court

Does anyone have experience of making an application under Schedule 1 of the Children's Act and representing themselves? If so how was it?

I have been trying to negotiate with my ex about how we provide accommodation for our 2 year old. Basically he wants me and DC out of 'his' house (jointly owned so not 'his' house) and what happens after that it is my problem. He he won't discuss it with me and has has refused mediation.
Therefore my only option is to let a judge decide, but I have no savings and do not qualify for Legal Aid. Hence my question. For info he will turn up with a barrister.

On a separate but related matter. If the judge does not award me sufficient equity to stay in the area (we live in a London commuter belt so rents are extortionate if I can't buy) I will have to move some distance away and as ex doesn't drive this will be a problem. Could a judge make an order to stop me moving away. We are not married but ex does have parental responsibility.
Thank you for reading.
