Moving house

My MIL is moving out of her council property. In 2014 we used to live there and we swapped with her. So she is the current tenant and moving out next week. There’s some bits in the loft (not hers) but we had left behind (6yrs ago) which we don’t need. Can we just leave them there or will she be charged something for it? She’s elderly and can’t get in the loft which is quiet obvious.
Many thanks

Depends on the council policy. Can’t you find someone to do it for her?

I think it's a unfair of you to leave it there for the council to deal with. Perhaps you could phone and ask them for advice. If they are able to clear it for you then it might be it isn't too expensive.

They will bill you for clearing and disposing of or storing any items you leave behind - and quite rightly, council funds are public funds, why should they be used for things which are a tenant’s responsibility? I appreciate your mother is elderly, but you either need to clear the loft yourself, pay for an end of tenancy clearance company to do it, or find out if the council offer a Care and Repair Service for older and disabled tenants and if rubbish clearance is something they might charge a small fee to do.
