Split with dp during lockdown ( long time coming /E/A /MH involved ) . We are both on a private tenancy agreement through an agent . The renewal is imminent. He is reluctant to sign as he wishes to purchase a property himself & says the kids ( one of which isn’t biologically his & in middle of gcse ) Will go with him ! Youngest doesn’t want to not be with me .
I am furloughed at present & he earns a good wage compared to me anyway .Always being reminded of that fact🤦‍♀️
I don’t earn enough on my own to rent near
The kids school. ( maybe scrape a room in a house share) I’m planning on selling my property ( studio flat) hours away that has tennants in it at present so I can Purchase a home as close to the school as I can afford .meanwhile I don’t want to lose my kids or end up With no roof.. I’m regularly told that he’s not responsible for me anyway just to the kids . My anxiety is through the roof!
Any helpful suggestions please ?

Have you investigated all the financial support available to you? Contact CMS to put in a claim for both your dc - both your ex and your eldest's dad.

Look on the entitledto website to work out if you're entitled to tax credits/universal credit etc. You may get some support with your rent.

AyeCorona1 That’s an idea ..I know whilst I own the studio flat which I respect I’m not entitled to other help. I’m in a lot of limbo unfortunately as I’m still waiting to hear what my new wages shall be once unfurloughed hopefully before Christmas 🤞

I would crack on now with selling the flat as it can take time to evict tenants. Depending on your pay you may then be entitled to some UC as your proceeds from the flat sale will go towards your new house and be disregarded.

Can you release any equity from your studio flat to pay rent in the meantime? Or ask your mortgage company for a payment holiday?

And yes, you will need to claim child support from your ex.
