Should I switch solicitors? Can anyone recommend a good personal injury solicitor?

Nearly two years ago I was burnt and left with a scar at a laser clinic. I have a claim for a that’s been going on since then. Liability has been admitted and medical report done etc but I’m just not getting any communication from my solicitor. I last heard from them back in February. I know we are in the midst of a pandemic but I would still have expected to hear something even if it’s just to let me know I’ve not been forgotten about. When I last contacted her in February I hadn’t heard from her for a few months prior to that date either. Is this normal?? I’m thinking that I have no choice but to change solicitors really although this isn’t ideal. I’m worried I might change and be in the same situation or worse... If anyone could recommend a good PI solicitor it would be really appreciated.

Can you change? Have you signed paperwork? If you change would you have to start from scratch - all medicals etc. Would you have to pay for the reports you've already had as these are expensive?
It is a long process and there are quiet times when not much is going on - I'm into year 5 of the process and hopefully it will be completed next year however we've had many delays so who knows. If I haven't heard from my solicitor in a while I just send off an email asking for an update. Mine has been working through out the pandemic however often from home while looking after his children so sometimes I've felt things running a little slower than normal.

I don’t think I’d have to pay for new reports, I think they’d have to be paid for the work they’ve done when the claim settles but I’m not too sure I’d have to find out. I know there can be quiet times what seems to happen is my solicitor says she’ll do something, I give it a few months then get in touch with her only to find she hasn’t done anything and then only does it when I get back in touch. I think she must be very busy but I feel like anything only ever gets done when I get in touch with her.

Is she a specialist PI solicitor
If not try Irwin Mitchell
If she is contact her and say you are not happy
Ask for update as to where you are ,next steps, timescales
Say if you don't get this within 2 weeks you will complain to managing partner

Use the details on your client engagement letter to complain to nominated partner

HOWEVER
your solicitor may be furloughed or at the very least working at home with limited access to client files. Courts have essentially ground to a halt. The party dealing with it on the other side (insurer probably) May also be on furlough /working at home. So I think maybe a teeny bit of patience required right now
