Writing the date on Will

Hi

I recently made my first Will and signed it with 2 witnesses present. DH later pointed out that when I wrote the date on it (in the presence of my witnesses) that I wrote the numerical date instead of the words. So using today's date as an example, I wrote '23rd July (twenty) 20' instead of writing 'twenty-third July (twenty) twenty'.

Does this invalidate my Will?

Thanks

I would definitely make it 2020 rather than just 20, as otherwise the year could be changed at some point in the future... Not sure about the rest though, sorry!

No, it doesn't invalidate it. It would probably be worth making it clear it's 2020 but otherwise no.

A dated and witnessed will however dated is sufficient evidence of your intention - it's pretty difficult for someone to challenge it and it would have to be someone who thought they should benefit and didn't.

It’s fine.

Fab thanks. It already says printed 'twenty...' so I added 20 after that so it reads twenty 20 as the year, if I changed it to write 2020, it would say '23rd July twenty 2020'

Thanks all!

It's fine. It's not even a legal requirement for a will to be dated, funnily enough. But they always are so if there is more than one will you know which came first.
