Any body got any advice?

My parents bought a flat jointly in Spain probably over ten years ago now.

My mum died in 2015. My dad is now in a care home with dementia.

We would like to sell the property to release the money to pay towards his Care. My brother and I have POA for him for both finance and health and welfare.

I don't really know where to start.

Flat has no mortgage on it. Won't be worth any where near what they paid for it but I'm not expecting that.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

What is your question?

I see you want to sell it. Find a couple of local estate agents to value it. Find yourself a Spanish English speaking conveyancing solicitor, there are loads down the east coast of Spain. Do not go on the estate agent recommendation as you need to ensure no conflict of interest.

There is a tax on the property that should be paid annualy. This is called the Catastral. This has to be paid. If it hasn't been, the total owing is paid on the sale by the sellers.
Just google Spanish Catastral.
