Changing terms and conditions because of Coronavirus

This business informed all its employees on Friday that everyone will be receiving new terms and conditions to sign by June 3rd. The new t&C's are that instead of a 5 day contract of employment, staff will now have a 4 day contract. So, effectively everyone will lose 20% pay.
An employee asked anonymously if they had to sign it and if they didn't, would that mean they would stay on full pay?
The screen shot is the business moderators reply. Is that true? Would there be legal consequences if staff didn't sign?

If a member of staff doesn't agree and the employer cuts their hours and pay anyway, the company will be in breach of contract unless the contract contains a clause allowing them to do this. The employer could choose to make the employee redundant or dismiss them. If they did either of those things the employee may have a good case for unfair dismissal. If the employer doesn't dismiss the employee but the employee leaves rather than accept the reduced pay they may have a case for constructive dismissal.

Any employee who doesn't want to sign should take proper legal advice.

Yes, they can do that but the employee may then have a case for unfair dismissal.

Employees need to consider the position carefully. If the employer needs to do this in order to survive, refusing to accept the new contract and taking legal action against the employer may leave employees with nothing - no job and no compensation.
