Emergency Prohibition

The house I live in had an emergency prohibition order from the council as there was fire risks within the property.

I rent the property and believe this is landlords responsibility as there is a fine with it and big jobs need doing in order to deem it safe to live in.

Landlord claims everything is my responsibility and that should they not receive rent they will take legal actions against me.

I can't afford a lawyer where can I ask for advice?

You have to keep paying rent. The fine is the landlord's responsibility.

Citizens Advice Bureau might be able to help direct you to the right place if you call them

@TinRoofRusty thanks, however as I am not permitted to live within the property until measures have been put in place to reduce risks of hazards, I don't feel like my side of the tenancy agreement has been fulfilled in order for the landlord to be receiving rent from me. Especially in current circumstances, workmen May take a longer time to come out to carry out essential work. I could be paying months worth when I'm not even allowed to have access. Luckily for family I am not having to look for another accommodation to be paying on top.
