Will

DH and I haven't got a will, so covid has given me the push to get one sorted.

I purchased a will pack online for couples and will be completing shortly, can we get neighbours to witness it and then that's it or do I need a solicitor or some sort of legal 'stamp'. Useless at these things!

Thanks in advance for help!

You don't absolutely need a solicitor. However, solicitors will tell you that they get a lot of work from people making their own wills and getting it wrong. Using a will pack is no guarantee. I would suggest you consider using the services of @mumblechum0.

Maybe do the will pack yourself so you've got something rather than nothing, but then get a solicitor to look at it and amend if necessary?

Thank you all I will have a look further.

Thanks for the mention @prh47bridge.

I sometimes get clients asking me to check homemade wills and there is almost always something wrong with them.

Today a lady was pretty sure she’d done a good job of rehashing a 20 yr old will, but it included a clause which, if they’d died close together, would have made a lot more tax payable than necessary.

It’s generally quicker for me to do a Will from scratch than try to fix one which someone has cobbled together and made a mess of tbh.
