Can parents who live in different a different part of UK to their kids still continue contact (Moving between homes if safe to do so) during lockdown? Eg dad in North England /kids in Scotland?

I’m not legally qualified so wouldn’t normally comment here, but since no-one has replied, I think this has been clarified more than once - it is allowed, and encouraged as long as it doesn’t involve any extremely vulnerable people who should be shielding.

I wouldn’t expect the England/Scotland border to be an issue. It’s not a monitored/policed border and I’m fairly sure that all home nations are pretty much following the same broad principles.

Hopefully someone will come along with a more authoritative answer.

Thanks. That’s what we thought but resident parent contacted us to say they had asked a local police officer who had checked with his boss and told them that “he would likely get stopped on the motorway and fined and wouldn’t be allowed to make the journey”.
Thanks

I don't think the police would make you return in this situation. The Gov guideline is clear.

Both the Scottish and English regulations are clear that leaving home for child contact arrangements is allowed. But the RP may well be telling the truth. The police seem to struggle to understand the regulations.

ThankS all. My partner now has been given a reference number by the police as an assurance if he IS challenged by any other police department on his journey.
