50/50 childcare during school closures

Can anyone shed any light on how 50/50 childcare should be during the school closures?

Provided the child is healthy and nobody is showing symptoms, I’d suggest it should remain 50/50 with both parents taking responsibility for making arrangements, wherever possible.

Ultimately it’s going to need some good communication particularly where one family is showing symptoms. These are unprecedented times so everyone’s going to have to be adult and understanding.

It's more a case of him refusing to help look after the kids whilst schools are closed. He's saying he's happy to do his nights only but daytime is down to me

That’s not how 50/50 care should work in my view, equal parental responsibility and equal shared care means that you both have to step up to the plate equally in these times, unless he’s a doctor in ITU or something.

The problem of course will be enforcing that!

While both households remain healthy, we're viewing ourselves as one household (albeit over two houses). DD is staying in at mine, going from here (in the car) to his house and staying in there.

Obviously if someone gets sick then we'll need to rethink, but for now, it gives both parents some time to work from home and gives DD a slight change of scenery.

if It’s 50/50 then it is 50/50. Why should it be down to you? Just tell the children and him that you’ll be out if he tries to drop off during your time.

During his time
