Hi
Short version - am in court proceedings with Ex over contact. I was financed by legal aid, last month i started working which means that I cannot receive this.

My solictor has sent me an acting in person form and basically said i can retain them for 1500 and pay counsel 1250 for representation on the day - or do it myself.

Im not sure how to go with this as Ive no money to pay these costs. Can i get a barrister just for the hearing and do the rest myself?

I’d probably hire the solicitor and rep your self in court rather than the other way about.

The solicitor prepares the case and does all the work. The barrister argues what the solicitor has decided in court. I think unless you have a law background I think of the two it would be easier to do the representation than it would be to do the legal work.

A direct access barrister is the way to go, ditch the solicitor.

Plenty of help online of how to complete forms. Its much more reassuring going into family court with a barrister than alone. They are so worth the money if you can afford it.
