Paying full nursery fees when they close

We had an email stating we would have to pay our nursery fees if the government choose to close the nursery.

I’ve checked and It isn’t in the terms and conditions that I signed. Does anyone have any idea of my rights?

I don’t want them to close so I am happy to contribute but feel full fees while I’m off with unpaid leave seems unfair

I don't know the legal stance but if the nursery closed I will not be paying the fees. No income for me means no income for them basically

I think paying a retainer at a reduced rate would be fair. Failing that, you could give notice, pay what is required for that period and hope you get a place when nurseries start to open again later in the year.

I'm a childminder and I'm asking for half fees. That (with a small amount of savings) will hopefully tide me over.

I don't like having to do it but the alternative is my business closes.

If none paid for the period they are closed they could go bust.

They still have mortgage/rent on the premises to pay, bill's. They may have to keep paying their staff.

I think 50% would be fairer though.

I think 50% would be understandable.

I just want to check where they stand with enforcement and where I stand with it all before getting in to a fight. If I haven’t got a leg to stand on and I want to keep my sons place there I don’t see the point in creating an uncomfortable atmosphere.

Surely if they close because the Govt says they have to their business insurance will pay out.
