To a elderly persons home with dementia.
Why is a police officer necessary?

You say you’re her full time carer, does that mean you live with her? How has she come to the attention of the HO?

LonginesPrime · 26/02/2020 16:57

she's trying to get her out of her property

It might be their policy.

Alternatively, if someone is trying to make a case for someone being unsafe/uncooperative, it would make sense to take a police officer for 'safety' reasons (real or suggested).

You've already posted about this once and had some good advice.

As Arietty said, I wonder if they thought they would need to make a forced entry?

cormorantyes · 26/02/2020 17:05

Definitely no need for police for anything mentioned up thread. If there were serious safeguarding concerns or suspected criminal activity police may attend.

Do you live with your grandma? I wonder if you don't and the neighbours have raised concerns with their social landlord about your grandma. If you are not there 24/7 you don't know the impact she is having on other people who are allowed to be concerned.

Your grandma might be fine when you are there because she feels safe, she knows you etc. But when she is alone, things can feel very different and she won't necessarily have the capacity to call and ask for help.

My grandma is awesome with her dementia, because I let her live in her fantasies. But some relatives tell her she is wrong, that X didn't really happen, and then they end up seeing a very different, much nastier side of a very elderly woman. That can be quite scary for someone who foist know her.

Could of been a PCSO or beat manager? I know ours can be really good supporting people

theswordthatdangles · 26/02/2020 17:06

*doesn't.

HappyHammy · 26/02/2020 18:55

Did you ask them why the police were there, I thought your GM lived alone in a warden flat, maybe they are concerned.

x2boys · 27/02/2020 12:12

A social worker that has done the AMHP (Approved Mental Health Practioner) Training can make the apl!location for detention under ' the mental health act ,but they need two Dr,s " Reccomandations ( well usually two, occasionally one if an emergency section) to do this @skierderry,a paramedic doesn't have the power to section anyone

TitianaTitsling · 27/02/2020 12:15

Have you posted about this recently with a theory that the housing officer wants your GMs house for a family member/themselves?

Gobbycop · 03/03/2020 15:17

Why ask a bunch of randoms on the internet when you can ask the police force involved directly?

Divebar · 06/03/2020 11:57

Police attend dozens of situations that are not crime related - they’re helping people constantly.
