IN10 Driving Conviction

Looking for some advice if possible - NC for privacy!

I got a conviction for driving without insurance in October 2015.

It was a genuine mistake with regards to series of life changes when I moved houses - changed bank accounts to manage money better, let insurance company know but they didn't change it - all letters about the policy went to old address (even saying it I don't think I'd believe it because it sounds cliche, but it's true) Blush

I had no idea that I was driving uninsured until the police pulled me over, I had to go court, I cried in front of everybody and couldn't speak, the insurance company said they couldn't pull calls from when I called to change bank details even though they said all calls were recorded...

Anyway, long story short I ended up with 6 penalty points and a fine of about £300 which I paid off straight away, and accepted that it was my fault for not checking it had been changed successfully etc.

I am applying for new jobs at the moment and they ask about criminal convictions. I've tried having a look but can't find specific information about if I have to declare this now? Some advice says after 4 years it is "spent" some days 5 years..does anybody have any advice?

These are mid level jobs - admin / customer service etc not working with kids etc.

Thank you in advance to anybody who may be able to help!

IN10 is a driving conviction, not criminal.

I'd disclose it, rather than not and it being found by a search

I'm afraid pooopypants is wrong. Legally there is no separate category for driving convictions. Driving without insurance is a criminal offence. However, as you cannot be imprisoned for driving without insurance you do not have a criminal record (despite the fact you have a criminal conviction) and this conviction won't appear on DBS checks.

The endorsement remains on your driving licence for 4 years but the offence is not spent until 5 years after conviction.
