my dm sold her house 3 months ago.
The buyers didn't want a survey as they viewed the house numerous times and was happy said they didn't want one.
Today my mum has had a phone call off her old neighbour saying the new people have said there are mice all through the walls and ceilings on the house, that my dm knew and she was getting a solicitor on her.
My dm has a cat, the cat occasionally brought mice in the living room when my mum woke up but thought nothing of it. The neighbour is not very hygienic so my mum thinks thats why theres mice but she wasn't aware when she lived there.
If she does get a solicitor involved what will my mum have to do as she is very worried.

There was an almost identical thread a couple of days ago.

When buying a house the principal of caveat emptor applies ...let the buyer beware. They should have had a survey.

Unless they can prove that the pre sale disclosure forms were completed dishonestly there is no recourse

Ridiculous. It's just mice. All they need is an exterminator. Councils offer them for a small set fee including follow up calls.

3 months (in summer) is more than enough time for mice to move in and have lots of babies. Obviously the cat was working it’s paws to the bone keeping them out.

DoomsdayCult · 03/09/2019 13:57

Each female mouse will have had at least dozen baby mice over 3 months. And half of those who’ll each have had @ half dozen each as they only take 6wks to mature and 3wks pregnant,..l
So an Adam and Eve mouse would result in 12 children and 36 grandchildren within 3 months....so you can go from two mice or one pregnant mouse to close to fifty!

Your mum need not do anything. Not her problem.

micemicemice · 03/09/2019 14:43

so what would my mum do then just explain that she didn't hear them? she can't 'sue' my mum can she

i have a feeling she's had environmental out and they've said you can see they've been around for years and that's why this woman thinks my mum has 'hidden' it from her.

They can take your mother to court if they want. There is nothing you can do to stop them. However, I doubt they would get anywhere.
