Divorce and shareholding

My ex wants to remove me as a shareholder in his Ltd company as he said he can't get a mortgage with me on it. I own 25% and it's just him so no real asset value to it. He's currently paying me a monthly dividend as a form of spousal maintenance and has said he will carry on paying this amount to me but not as a shareholder.

Does this sound okay? Why would me having a share affect his mortgage capability? We're not divorced yet but plan to.

I've done a bit more reading and it seems this may have tax implications too? How do I value the shares for him to buy me out?

Take independent advice before signing anything.
As a shareholder you are entitled to those dividends legally and you have no obligation to offset that against CM which he should be paying separately.

Thanks - there's no child maintenance payable as we share equally but he pays spousal due to the huge disparity in our earning potentials.

Ah sorry I misread.
But still get legal advice.
