To serve the divorce papers. English guy living abroad. Tried asking 8 times and always ignored.

What can l do? Can divorce papers be sent to his email address which is still operational?

Many thanks

Tricky one this. You have to serve him according to the law of the country he's in. Time to do some research.

Have a look on the GOV.UK website where there is information about how to divorce someone you have lost contact with, for instance you can issue a public notice instead of serving papers.
I hope that helps, it must be very frustrating, and presumably he his doing it deliberately to increase your stress levels.

You can ask the court to allow you to serve him by email. You would need to explain why and attach any emails or texts where he refuses to tell you his address.

OP - please ignore the two posters after me. You'd be wasting your time and possibly your money.

If you PM me with details of what country he's living in I'll spend a few minutes trying to find the answer, but to be clear, the answer is always that you find out how the law of the country he's living in says he should be served and stick to that. Anything else is plain guess work and wrong. If I advised clients by guessing I'd get sued all the time.

Thank you. Colloborate.

He lives in Bahrain.

And that’s cheaper than an order for substituted service dealt with without a hearing? Okaaayyyy.

@EarlyModernParent Unless you have something sensible to contribute regarding the operation of Part 6.43 of the Family Procedure Rules perhaps don't confuse your guesswork with facts.

OP - to save me copying and pasting, have a look at that rule here: www.justice.gov.uk/courts/procedure-rules/family/parts/part_06#IDAZROIC. You definitely need to find out what the law in Dubai says. It might make certain methods of service unlawful. If your husband will be travelling to the UK any time soon it might be best to wait until he's here and have him personally served. Is your husband British? You may well need to get all the court paperwork translated, and that's not cheap.

OP - for the avoidance of doubt, you don't apply for substituted service of someone overseas.
