I've been advised by my financial advisor that I ought to appoint a POA. I am in my forties, divorced, with 2 children (over 16 but under 25). I would like to appoint the elder, but joint with my father. I can't seem to see how to set this up, other than on gov.co.uk who charge a fee, or websites charging fees. Is it necessary to pay for this to be done or is there a form I can get from somewhere to fill out and keep in a safe place? Any advice appreciated, thank you.

Yes, it is necessary for you to pay a fee of £82 to register the POA as per the guidance on www.gov.uk. If you are on benefits you may not have to pay the fee. If you are on a low income the fee may be reduced.

Thank you. I wasn't sure if it was actually necessary to pay so thank you for confirming.
