Does anyone have or had a post nuptial agreement?

I am considering a post nuptial agreement as I have DC from previous relationship and have recently come into an inheritance and want to pay off the house I bought before I married. Been married for 4 years and have 2 DC. Anyone know the cost of this and are they truly legally binding Thanks

They are a very good idea. They are not 100% binding under current law, but if done properly they are highly likely to be followed by the court (effectively if one of the spouse's reasonable needs cannot be met if the PNA terms are strictly followed the court will deviate from the terms of the PNA in so far as is necessary to meet those reasonable needs).

It's impossible to give an estimate of costs because it depends very much on what you're trying to achieve and what the assets are, and whether or not the initial draft is done by your lawyer of theirs, and how much substantive negotiation there will be. However you should not expect the cost to be less than £1,000 plus vat, and if anyone tells you they could do it for less than that I would strongly suspect that they don't know what they're doing.

Thank you collaborate, it would most probably be something like I keep the house for me and DC and he keeps his pension for himself. I will have a look for a solicitor who deals with them, also we have no pre hip agreement.
