Just received a letter from neighbours solicitor. Property is being transferred into his name since his parents died and they need a Disposition from me regarding common areas on title deeds which we no longer use as a fence and wall have been up for years.
Just called to sort out but they’ve advised it’s best I get my solicitor to contact them to deal with paperwork which I agreed to but now thinking I can’t really afford to pay a solicitor at the moment - does it need to go through solicitor or can I just do it myself? I’m in Scotland.

I’m in England so perhaps I don’t fully understand but if they need you to do something and a solicitor has to be involved surely the party who need you to do it should be paying

Yes - they should pay your legal fees. Ask for them to put in writing that they will pay your reasonable legal fees. Ring your solicitor and ask for a fee quote for the work then ask the son to ensure the offer to pay fees at least covers that.

Thanks, have emailed the solicitor to say I’m not able to pay legal fees so will see what they say
