Hello,

I'm needing to find someone to notarise some documents for me - how do I go about this? Is it just a case of googling a lawyer? I live in Scotland if that makes a difference.

Thanks in advance!

Some solicitors are notaries but not all. All JPs are though.

If you are in a town with a court building phone them to get an appointment otherwise phone your local solicitor.

Notary public (in England) is not the same as solicitor. I used a notary a while back for dealing with overseas bank. Straightforward, not expensive and did the job. Found them by google map search.

Go to the find a solicitor section on the law society of Scotland’s website, look for a firm near you and call them up and ask. As PP said most (but not all) practising Scottish solicitors are notaries and should be able to help.

Great, thank you. Our solicitor is in another city so not ideal to travel to him like we usually we do but I'll phone someone local.
