I need to sort out my mum's estate and deal with her will and probate.
My understanding from what my mum told me over the years was that apart from a few bits of jewellery, her estate was to be split equally between my brothers and me, so that bit should be straightforward.
Her estate is her house and some savings, so again that should be straightforward.
Her estate is not enough to attract inheritance tax, so that should also be straightforward.
I read her will but probably because of the wording in legal speak and jargon, I found it a bit difficult to make sense of, but I think the overall gist of it was what my mum said. I've had an initial email communication with the solicitors where the will is held and a solicitor has said that the will is fairly complex. I don't know if this us the case or whether the solicitor is just trying to persuade me to use their legal services.
So should I deal with the will and probate myself or should I use the services of a solicitor to deal with it all?
