Does anyone know how long an GBH against a child could be reported ?

Long long story but I was seriously assaulted in 1984, the abuser then went on to assault another minor in 2015 and now has access to my other child.

Can I bring charges this late in the day, with a witness ? I just want this person stopped

If this is in England and Wales, then (assuming you have evidence of injuries to take it above the level of basic assault without injury) there are no time limits on reporting Flowers

Thank you. Would a statutory declaration be enough ? From a witness ?

Did they get reported in 2015?

Can you not stop the access to your child ?

Unfortunately not, although it will be reported now. And no the other parent is allowing access

Statutory declaration? No. You simply attend at the police station and tell them that you wish to make a report of assault.

I meant the witness.

If there is to be a prosecution the witness would need to be interviewed by the police and prepared to be cross examined in court.

If you feel your child is at risk of assault could you involve social services?

@RedHelenB they aren’t interested in the slightest. NSCP slightly better and cahms doing their best but it’s tricky. You just don’t know what to do for the best. If I go ahead it might drive the person further away and if I don’t a) it could happen again and b) im made to look like the liar

Trouble is the witness has an assault charge himself for hitting his step daughter - wonderful family I’m from - the defender would wipe the floor with him

OP, sadly I suspect you are going to need more evidence.
If you were bdaly injured, were you taken to hospital/doctor?
Did the school notice?
What about neighbours at the time?

For it to be GBH, I think I'm right in saying it must have had significant injuries, for example, when friend's son aged 15 was beaten up, they thought he had borken his jaw. A broken jaw would have been actual bodily harm, the not -quite-broken jaw wasn't even enough for them to prosecute.
So you would need pretty serious injuries for GBH, which there must be some record of surely?

Police took photos at the time but they’ve been distroyed. Tbh there appears to be nothing I can do, it’s so frustrating
