Building regulations indemnity insurance.

DH and I are in the process of sorting out our affairs in order to make life easier for our relatives and executors in the event of our demise.
Having had some good advice already regarding house deeds, I'm back again.
We have a loft conversion in our terraced house that was done approximately 30 years ago.
It didn't require planning permission (which we knew about) but never had any building regulations inspection or sign off (which we didn't know about otherwise, we would have done it).
We have no plans to sell in the foreseeable future but would we be best taking out building regs. indemnity insurance now so that we can leave it with other essential paperwork for our executors
or, shall we just leave well alone?
I am mindful that our circumstances could change and we could have to sell one day.
DH may well file for divorce if I suggested retrospective building regs sign off with all that would entail.
All advice gratefully received.

IIRC building regs are unenforceable after 10 years.

Don't bother. If a buyer feels the need in the future, those policies are very easy to put in place.

Many thanks.
