Suing social services

I was seeing a solicitor a couple years ago for something slightly related who, after reading my file, advised me I had a strong claim for negligence against my local authority. She offered to take up the claim for me but informed me she had never done a negligence claim against a public body before so I turned down her offer. Since then I haven't been able to find a solicitor, I don't even know where to start looking. And I'm not sure what the funding options would be as I definitely couldn't pay the solicitor straight away. I'm out of work due to the negligence caused by social services

If she'd never done a claim against a public body before (obviously not her field), how on earth could she tell you that you had a 'strong claim'?

You can search for a specialist solicitor here: solicitors.lawsociety.org.uk/

They will talk you through your funding options and tell you whether you have any prospect of success.

I know of a young woman who sued a local authority for leaving her at home when they knew she was being sexually abused, and she received a financial award.
Is it something like that?

She has done claims against them before, just not for negligence

Right so you would need to find a solicitor who has a specialty in that field. A quick google is your best option. You could arrange for a DBA (where the solicitor will take a portion of the damages awarded to you) or try to find a pro bono clinic willing to take it on (again just use google).
