Name wrong on court order

My DP ordered a copy of a residency order his EX had done when the child was born, it arrived today and it has the wrong first name for my DP.
It's not just the spelling it's a whole other name, does the residency order still count? I'm not sure why the Mother never changed the name as it's been a long time and I'm confused how a court order has incorrect information.

Prob just clutching at straws here.

It will not invalidate it and is probably hard to get changed at this stage and as everyone knows which person was meant despite the error perhaps no one decided to correct it when the court first issued it. If i t might apply to someone else eg his brother lives at the same house and is the brother's first name however then it would be worth correcting it.

Also check the passport of the person as sometimes people are known by one name but use another.

I'm a little confused. An ex cannot have an order done. The court must be seized with an application, there must be a dispute regarding a child's arrangements, and the court felt they had to intervene. If your partner was involved in the court proceedings he will have received a copy of the order at the time.

Simple errors can be amended under the slip rule. A letter to court pointing out the error should suffice.

It was ex parte. Names not connected to anyone else and it's definitely not his real first name. Just a simple mistake.
Desperately trying to get residency so overthinking everything. Thank you.

An ex parte order will not be the last thing to happen in a case. It will always be temporary and there will be an order superseding it. He needs to contact the court and get copies of all the orders made.
