We've got these all sorted for our elderly dad who has dementia

Letters have come back with approval

Now what do we do with them? Just wait until they are needed? Do they need to be kept with a solicitor or just at home?

If he has dementia you can't do the forms yourself, an attorney needs to be appointed by the court of protection.

If your dad made them when he had capacity, (as it takes 2 to 3 months to process them, I presume that he did at the time), he will specified on about page 5 whether the Property and Financial one could be used as soon as it’s registered.

If so. You should get some copies certified by a local solicitor, and give each bank or other relevant company a copy for their records, and your dad should hold on to the original.

The Health and Welfare one can only be used when he no longer has the capacity to make decisions about medical treatment and social care for himself.
