Employment law - for employees

Does anyone know if there are 30 minute free appointments with employment lawyers, like there are for other specialities?

I have a catalogue of issues, some with evidence, some not, that I'd like qualified to know if I have any sort of case.

As an aside I have joined a union, so not sure if they would provide that service anyway.

Thanks

Some will, some won't, IMO small high street type or no win no fee firms are more likely to be willing to do a free initial appointment than a specialist (but a specialist may be more likely to win the case, so swings and roundabouts really). Worth calling around a few to see anyway, you've nothing to lose. Although do bear in mind that if it's a complicated matter with lots of material to cover they may not be able to go over it all in half an hour...

Most unions do provide free legal advice for members (often including representing you through tribunal if they feel you have a case) they may not be prepared to advise on a pre-existing matter (ie pre dating you joining), but again worth checking.

Also check your home insurance as some contain legal advice provision.

And finally you can also call ACAS who have a free helpline, which may be enough to tell you an initial yes/no to whether you potentially have a case, which would be helpful if you are going to to invest in a paid-for consultation...
