What's the difference or is it the same thing.

A friend of mine won an appeal against a criminal conviction in Crown Court (sentence in mag court)
Have seen online about compensation of an appeal. Is this the same as claiming costs back that the solicitor is doing?
Also what's liklihood of getting the entire cost of solicitor back 2k. Plus 300 fine?

Also can he get the person who made the allegations ' done' for lying leading to all the court stuff, a Co viction which lead to job loss and stress. Then having to appeal resulting in two adjournments before the hearing. Then won as the evidence wad stacked against the prosecution and the origanal hearing didn't give fair trial.

It is unlikely he will get any compensation other than reclaiming some of his legal costs. The rules for compensation have been tightened up so it is now only available if you can prove beyond reasonable doubt that you are innocent.

If it is clear that the person making the allegations knew they were false the police may take action. Your friend cannot force them to do so. If they don't, your friend could, in theory, bring a private prosecution. However, he could end up seriously out of pocket if he goes down this route.
