debt collectors???

In brief: we employed a builder and stupidly paid him in advance of him completing the work. He has since done a runner, Ltd co in liquidation (no assets) and he is trying to make himself bankrupt. It's "common knowledge" that him and his wife have plenty of assets.

I've got nowhere with the usual route and thinking of employing a debt collector to go after the £75K he owes us.

What are the watch outs and pitfalls? I have bad anxiety and am worried about there being comebacks on me. The ones I have looked at online all say they are regulated and legal. The builder is not a nice man and i am concerned about repercussions. Then again we have lost our entire life savings and i can't just sit by and do nothing:(

You gave your entire life savings of £75k to a tradesman upfront? Yeah not surprised he's fucked off Hmm

thanks for that helpful comment. ffs if you haven't got anything useful to say here then go and find something useful to do with your life.

We've been to hell and back and i could really do without twats on the internet giving those sorts of comments.

There is obviously more of a back story (we were very much conned)

Unfortunately I think if you paid the money to a Limited company you don’t have any comeback against the individual.

As Rockchick1984 says, it is the limited company that owes you money, not the builder personally. In general you cannot pursue directors or shareholders for money owed by a company.
