Interview for fraud investigation DWP

Emz2019 · 02/12/2018 09:08

my partner got a letter from the DWP sayings he must attend an interview to help them withh their enquires into fraud investigation. We don’t claim any benefits my partner works full time so i am confused and not sure what it’s about and neither does he know and he called them and they won’t tell him on the phone. Also I’ve googled about it and it says if the letter says you must attend an interview under caution... but his letter does not say that. Does anyone know what this could be about?

Best go to the interview and find out. It may be someone has used his details to claim?

donajimena · 02/12/2018 12:52

Maybe they are investigating someone else?

Unsureofmyselfx · 02/12/2018 12:59

Does he employ anyone?

JorahsMistress · 02/12/2018 16:16

Has he ever claimed benefits in the past? Could relate to a previous claim, im not saying he has committed fraud himself, but if someone has used his details fraudulently that could explain why he's being called in, or someone has reported him or could just be an admin error

I know its a pain when you know you haven't done anything wrong, but good idea to go to clear things up, good luck 😁

Had he ever claimed in the past?

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 02/12/2018 16:18

It could be that someone is claiming and has mentioned him; somehow, or that it's someone he employs or manages. Or an old claim that he had.

If it's not an interview under caution, they're just looking for information at this point and he can go and find out what's happening. They never give anything away over the phone beforehand.

He has previously employed people but not right now he isn’t as he’s now in a different business

As you don't claim then it's clearly in relation to someone else and could b historical. Or even current, someone has used his name. As such it's not about him per se.
