Court of protection

Hi , my elderly mother has dementia and is in a nursing home we don’t have poa
I’m having a difference in opionion with the dr and her meds , he has said that because we don’t have poa the nurses can do what they feel is in my mums bed interests
How does court of protection work ?
Would we have to foot the bill ?

What is it you want to be able to do, it's so difficult isn't it, what are the differences of opinion and does your mum have capacity, if not is there a DOLS and best interest decision tool around medication in her file.

Age UK have an info sheet on applying to be a deputy or you can go online to the Gov,UK website, look up applying to be a deputy when someone lacks capacity. There is a fee, I think it was 385 for us to apply. You can apply for health and welfare and also to make financial decisions.
