Resident parent as a shift worker

DH's ex scheduldes which weekends we have their DC according to her working hours and sends us the dates usually 8 weeks ahead. Family look after the DC while she works. She doesn't allow DP too.

Schedule is 2 weekends a month so he's going back to court to ask for more time but he also wants a fixed schedule. Whats the likelihood of this? He works regular hours. The only cases I've found are of the non-resident parent being a shift worker (Dad is a paramedic or works on a rig).

Courts fit contact around a non-resident parent's shift work so there's no reason to think they wont accommodate your husband's ex. Doesn't mean to say he hasn't got a reasonable chance of getting more time with them.

How does fixed schedule benefit the children?

I'm sure there are many opinions on both sides of that 5Makes9. How do you feel? That two families should be held to the will of one persons?

The court will be interested in how a fixed schedule benefits the children involved. In my experience they are far less interested in how it impacts everyone else.
