Stopping private email disclosure

I sent a letter as an email attachment to someone. It contained highly personal and sensitive information about mental health and sexual issues. It was password protected and I sent the password by separate email. The person to whom I sent it is now threatening to disclose it to third parties. There is no public interest or safeguarding reason for disclosure it is purely anger on his part as we have fallen out. I think that I could probably prevent him from publishing it as it would be the tort of misusing personal information but wondered whether anybody knows if this only relates to celebrities!!
