Terry121 · 15/10/2018 14:58

Hi all I recently was in a car accident as a passenger and the other driver has admitted it was his fault as was we was hit from behind. Now I'm having phisio set up thru my friends insurance company. I've got some damage caused by whiplash to my neck and suspected rotator cuff injury to my shoulder, could someone tell me what I should be expecting compensation wise, and considering my sport activity is bodybuilding it's affected that a lot too.

Has this resulted in any loss of earnings for you. What do the insurance company think you should claim for.

PersonaNonGarter · 15/10/2018 16:44

Well, hopefully not much because, let’s face it, your insurance claim is our premium rise.

I’m sorry you’ve been injured but pleased to hear you are getting physio quickly.

Violetroselily · 15/10/2018 17:33

Depends on the prognosis

Your solicitor should be advising you

Lazypuppy · 15/10/2018 21:05

Why do you need compensation? You're getting the physio which is great

smallfootpercy · 15/10/2018 21:08

My mother got £200 and physio for similar accident and injuries. She was the driver and a car hit her at speed from behind.

Ffiffime · 16/10/2018 17:46

I got £3300 for a similar injury 20 years ago.
To be honest, I wish I’d taken it further and gone for more because I’m having horrendous issues now and waiting to see a specialist.
I’ve been on painkillers and in and out of physio for 20 years. I’m only 37 and it’s just getting worse and worse.

Brokenribses · 16/10/2018 17:51

Are you in a union? You can ask your union's lawyers for advice, it doesn't have to be about work.

ballseditupforever · 16/10/2018 17:53

Ffs of course you deserve compensation. The people that don't are the ones that aren't actually injured and pretend they have whiplash. Nothing wrong with claiming if you actually have been injured. I still get pain from a car accident 6 years ago. I would think you are in for between 4 and 8k assuming you recover relatively quickly (6-12 months). More if it lingers around for years. More if you have loss of earnings but pure compensation between 4 and 8 depending on how hard you negotiate.

SillySallySingsSongs · 16/10/2018 17:54

These sorts of claims are being hugely clamped down on now. I doubt you will get much if any monetary compensation.

ballseditupforever · 16/10/2018 17:54

Also, unless you need the money don't settle for at least a year as you won't know what your long term
Prognosis is until then.

BlaaBlaaBlaa · 16/10/2018 17:55

I'm really interested in this too. I was hit from behind while in stationary traffic. I've got a suspected herniated disc putting pressure on my femoral nerve. I'm waiting for the results of an MRI scan.
I'm in agony daily, can't sleep due to numbness/ pain and struggle driving and sitting for more than 15/20 mins. I can't bend down or pick anything heavy up ( including my little boy 😢)
Physio didn't work and they've discharged me. Tried neuropathic medication which didn't agree with me.
I'm at the end of my tether and completely exhausted.

ballseditupforever · 16/10/2018 17:55

Sillysally fraudulent claims are being clamped down on. Legitimate proven claims will continue to be paid.

tempname111 · 17/10/2018 21:33

Whatever you do, don't use any solicitors that advertise on the television/radio. Find an independent one who know what they're doing. And check home insurance/union/any other policy to see if you've got legal cover.

BirthdayKake · 18/10/2018 03:54

Around £3,000

AJPTaylor · 18/10/2018 19:58

Too early to tell. Agree 3k to 4.5k is probably right.

norkmonster · 18/10/2018 22:21

Nobody can tell you what you will get as compensation for pain and suffering until there is a diagnosis and a prognosis / recovery period given. Please get legal advice and the solicitors will organise a medical report detailing your injuries.
