Recommendations for litigation property specialists

Worth contacting the Law Society for firms or can anyone recommend someone experienced in this?

Problem in brief - money borrowed from rich STBXP's family member to pay off mortgage who then had charge over house in my name only. Money paid back by me (have proof of payment from me to his account which matches charge). However he has quarrel with STBXP over other monies and is refusing to sign the relevant form. This is jeopardizing my sale.

Offers to meet with solicitor by me and STBXP are just blanked and no information forthcoming from the solicitor about what his client wants. This has been going on for 2 months and solicitor just says he's awaiting his client's instructions.

Your dispute is either with the parents or your ex.

With the parents if you have proof of them saying "just pay it to ex", or if no proof they are willing to accept that he accepted the money as their agent.

If there is no proof, your dispute is with ex, who you paid the money to on the understanding he would clear the debt to his parents.

I'm not a civil litigation lawyer, but you don't need a specialist property lawyer. It's a straight forward contract/debt case. Best thing to do is a letter before action to both ex and his parents saying you'll sue them both (the court will decide which one is liable, and make the loser pay every one else's costs).

From the OP, I got the impression the money was paid back directly to the 'family member', who is the 'him' mentioned. Not via the STBEXP.
