Can I have some advice please?

The terms of my mortgage are coming to an end and my ex husband has asked for half the value of the house.
My question is; is he entitled to half of what the value was when we went to court (4 years ago) or half of what it is now?

I let him have the whole ISA that had a LOT of money in, I didn’t ask for anything other than to stay in the house until the terms of the mortgage were up.

He thinks he can have half of what it’s worth now, but I’m not so sure?

Ps this person has put myself and my child through years of hell!

Thanks

You should have got a financial settlement at the time of the divorce. If you did that will set out what, if anything, he is entitled to from the house. If you did not get a financial settlement you need to see a solicitor.

Thanks,
We didn’t. I just told by the judge that I would have to sell at the end of the terms, but he never stated whether it was what we had the property valued at at the time of the court hearing.
I think il have to speak to a solicitor.

Yes. Speak to a solicitor. If you had a financial hearing in court, surely there was a court order stamped and all details will be on that.

You def need to speak to a Solicitor, the financial agreement should have run alongside the divorce, especially if there were marital assets.

Hi,
The court order just states we can stay in the house until the terms end or my child turns 18 whichever comes first. Then states at that point I have to make all the arrangements to sell it.

Definitely need a solicitor, thanks everyone.
