Is a 16 year old a child?

Or an adult? Is there a proper legal definition that all should follow?

Can a 16 yr old sign a contract of any kind? And can they sign a tenancy agreement specifically?

Sorry I can't share more of the reasons for this. I'm asking for a friend and her DD. TIA

In Scotland they are pretty much an adult.
But I can't imagine too many landlords would agree to allow a 16yo to take in a tenancy.

At 16 that are an adult in some things but generally credit agreements etc are 18+ so I doubt she would be able to have a tendency without a guarantee. Also she would need to prove an income with wage slips etc
