Hi.I am in a bit of a state.Yesterdays events could not have gone any worse.Brief story..I have 3 kids and 1 on the way in 5 weeks..the father and i aft 7 yrs together had split up 3 wks prior to me finding out.We have made efforts on and off to make things work. However yesterday on a joint day out with the kids we had a rather loud exchange of words in a public area..things got out of hand.A lot of police were nearby due to an event that was being held there.Onlookers told nearby officers of our arguement. They took his name and address and my DOB..i was mortified and worried for the kids having to witness what was unfolding..why were the police talking to mummy etc..My question is what do the police take name and DOB for..is it simply a formality?or should i worry that they will contact SS?I am getting conflicting theories from friends and am suffering extreme anxiety.a reply/advise would be appreciated. Thanks 💔

They take details to check out the person on the national database to see if there's any criminal history and also any intelligence. The person might be wanted for outstanding offences. It may or may not have shown that your partner is an habitual domestic abuser so would help them assess how to proceed with the incident.

Hi.Thank you for taking time out to answer me.That puts ky mund at ease a bit.I was hoping for reassurance that mine and my kids worlds aren't going to be turned upside down by social services.I just feel so awful and embarrassed and ashamed.Guilty really.I know I am tginking more of it than anyone else but I am a worrier. It is my nature and luck is rarely on my side.I am closer to 40 years old now and just mortified that this is what has unfolded.

It doesn't sound like any referral will be made if they only took your name and date of birth. If they were treating it as a domestic incident they would have spoken to you alone and asked many many questions.

WildFlower18 · 02/09/2018 10:28

Ok.Thank you. There were 2 officers. While 1 officer spoke 2 my 'partner'..the 2nd officer said csn i speak to you a minute and took a couple of steps to the side..He just adked 'are you ok?' I said yes, listen it all got out of hand..it was over nothing that no hands were raised just voices and that i was very pregnant and hormonal and didn't help the situation at all.The officer sort of laughed and said ok but I think looked sad for me..I had been crying.I said I was more concerned that my kids were a bit scared now because policemen were talking to mummy. He nodded and off they went..Before we left they asked where we were from and how we were getting home as we weren't from the area. That was the incident in full.

Don't worry then. Hope it all works out for you. Don't forget you are at your most vulnerable when pregnant.

Stop trying yo play happy families with days out, it's asking for trouble like this. Your children will be confused too. Either be together, or apart.

WildFlower18 · 02/09/2018 11:41

We live seperately but work together very well generally, not all families live together. There were no bad feelings before our journey..however things have been strained lately.Hindsight is a wonderful thing.No-one can make me feel any worse than I already do.We have already came to an agreement to move forward doing these things apart now. Thanks for your post.

You won't be the first 'couple' to have had an argument in public!

You won't be the last!

I think what you need to do is assess how days out are working and how to move on from here with a more harmonious future.

MrsBertBibby · 02/09/2018 12:00

I'm sorry that I upset you. That wasn't the intention.

You don't seem to be clear if you are a couple or not. That surely is pretty likely to cause rows and confusion, and is really tough for the kids to process, and makes rows much more significant to them.

WildFlower18 · 02/09/2018 12:06

Not at all Mrs BertBibby. To be honest that was unclear to me too. However it is clear now.I am very sensitive especially at the minute being very close to term.Obviously everyone will have an opinion on this.It is very raw and I am still very upset about the whole thing. My concern are my kids and thats why we are moving forward in a different direction.

Thank you youarenotkiddingme❣ Yes everyone has their off days.Unfortunate it happened how it did.The kids were very unfazed by the arguement..it was the arrival of the police that alarmed them and me.Never in my life has this happened before and it definitely isn't an experience that i care to repeat again.Thank you for your thoughts and making me feel a little less hard on myself.appreciate it.
