Action threatened parking at Premier Inn

Can anyone with legal expertise advise on wording please? I parked for 2 nights at a premier inn. I paid £6 for the parking but on arrival I was not advised to enter my car details onto a screen. The second night on my return I did and enter my car details into the screen.

I have had five letters from parking eye demanding penalty payment. Each time I phoned premier inn and each time they said they would email parking eye to confirm I had paid. After the fourth letter I asked premier in to copy me into their email to parking eye. They did not. I phoned again, they said they were not permitted to share email addresses and so had not copied me but could confirm that they had emailed them. The hotel person also shared that Premier Inn were meeting with parking eye about the complaints as I was not the only one.

On their letters parking eye did not have a phone contact number only a method of payment or an appeal process. I thought Premier Inn's emails would sort it. Now I can see that an appeal is necessary but the appeal process has ended. The letter today says I now just have to pay otherwise solicitors will be instructed.

How should I word the response? Thanks

Have you been able to contact premier inn head office complaints department.

I had something similar. As I had proof of payment, I decided to just ignore and wait it out (I think I sent a letter in the first instance including a copy of my paid ticket but couldn't be arsed with the appeals shenanigans)

The letters eventually stopped, well I haven't heard anything for almost a year now, but I have kept everything for over 2 years so far.

Iirc I read that in court they have to prove a loss and can no longer issue fines etc punitively (?) - and as you have actually paid, they wouldn't have a leg to stand on. **Note this is NOT official legal advice at all Grin
