Ex Moved House With Telling Me - Child is Under 18

My ex moved house last year with out telling me the new address and moved child to another school without my knowledge. I discovered the move by chance when Bank advised that a joint account had been closed and sent me copy of letter they had sent to ex's new address.

However, if ex moves again I may not be so lucky? I don't think ex would change the child's school again as it a highly rated, but is the school obliged to give out addresses in the event of another move? They would likely want proof that I am parent. I have copy of child's passport, but not birth certificate.

How do you collect your child for contact if you don’t know their address or do you not see them.

I work mostly outside the UK. How often I see child varies.

Suspicions arose over Christmas Period when child was being dropped off and collected from his grandparents house. Previously grandparents always had to collect child themselves.

No, the school is not obliged to give you any addresses. They can give you copies of your child's school reports, letters to parents and other school communications.

You can order a copy of the birth certificate from the GRO website www.gov.uk/order-copy-birth-death-marriage-certificate

If I was your ex I would be going batshit crazy at the bank for handing over my address to my ex. You may not be a safety concern, but this is the exact sort of data protection fuck up that can get a woman killed by a violent ex she has fled from.

A similar incident where the bank almost but not quite leaked my new address to my ex had someone very senior from the bank grovelling down the phone to me and handing me £250 in compensation for the distress.

In summary, no, no one has to, or is legally allowed to, give out your ex's new address, for very good reasons.

If you have PR the school is obliged to send you the same information it sends to the other parent but they cannot give you your child's address. That would be a clear breach of data protection.

RP is understood NOT obligation to inform the NRP of their residential address.
RP is expected to consult the NRP about change of school. School is expected to provide NRP with school reports on REQUEST but is under NO obligation to provide NRP with the child's residential address - in fact data protection PROHIBITS this.
Bank is in massive breach of data protection and I hope your Ex takes this up with them.
Where your Ex lives none of your business.

I will arrange for school to send me reports and news letters.

I wondered about the bank too. No hard copies involved. Just came through the online banking system.

Ex is not aware of how her address was discovered and they way things worked out later she told me herself as had to collect child while she went on holiday.

NRP can apply to Court for the information and Court can order disclosure if they consider it is in child's interests.

Pleased the address was found out as grandparents went to the house and discovered child was locked in by themselves since day before. Incident was reported to police who advised to report to social services. They made contact with child's mother and must have issued some form of warning as Child spends a lot more time with grandparents than before.
