Can ExH put a charge on my new home after decree absolute?

Just that really...

I don't owe him any money, he hasn't paid me anything, we're no longer married, I was sole owner of my previous property and will be sole owner of my new property; he never paid any bills when we were together (yes, really!)...

But he's furious that I'm moving house and says that I can't sell or rent out the 'family home' without telling him! He did have marital home rights charge on my property after we separated but had that removed when I got the decree absolute.

Is he allowed to keep interfering like this?

Correction: ... I had the charge removed.

Have you sorted out the financial agreement?

NooNooMummy · 25/05/2018 09:22

No We got to decree absolute without it (he refused to co-operate and in mediation, he agreed to a clean break with me retaining my property, owned prior to marriage and to which he had contributed nothing). I know that he can still apply to court for a financial arrangement but til then....

Get a financial order sorted out as soon as possible. Until you do he can make an application at any time, even years later. If you win the lottery in 5 years time he could potentially claim part of your winnings. If it was agreed in mediation you should have sorted out a consent order.

I know. He refused to sign consent order - wasn't co-operating with anything. And I've spent a small fortune already getting a pointless order for childcare arrangements that he completely ignores Do you know whether I can conclude financial matters / get an order without his consent?

Not without going down the contested route.
