Hi, just wondered if anyone can help me, my husband bought me a diamond ring for Christmas from Goldsmiths, he gave it to me boxing day 2017 and I worn it on and off (not every day) until I realised a stone was missing on 2nd March 2018. I returned it to the shop and they emailed today saying it will cost me £280 to get fixed as its classed as accidental damage and not covered by their warranty. I tried to explain that its worn on my right finger and I am left handed I don't have a manual job I work from home and drive for work. But all they have said is I can get it independently assessed and if its found to by faulty and not accidental then they will repair for free, I think this is disgusting, 2 month wear and even of I did get it back repaired, I will be to scared to wear it !! Any advise very welcome !!

I would say to them that it's not fit for purpose. I had similar with my actual wedding ring. I wore it for 5 days and noticed a stone was loose. It was a tension set ring with 7 stones. It was repaired
..3 Days later the stone was loose again. At this point the manager trotted out the line that it was a dress ring and not meant for everyday wear. I said that it was hardly an unreasonable expectation for the ring to last 7 days of wearing.
I was refunded.
