UK Passport docs - first time ...

Hopefully a quick Q.

I have DS21 and he's looking to get his first passport. His DF is long since gone (as in buggered off). When DS was 11, I got married to my DH, and DS took his name, via statutory declaration. DS now uses that name all the time (banking, work, council tax etc).

No problem with DS birth certificate, and I have kept my old passport from when he was born ... these are two documents the Passport Agency require. However I can't seem to see if they need the statutory declaration ? Basically DS is applying for a passport in his current name, which is not his birthname.

Haas anyone else crossed this bridge ?

Is that the same as a Deed Poll? Ds1 has just sent his application off with the Deed Poll and Birth Certificate.

If he doesn't have any other documents that prove his current name, then yes.

You will need to send off a certified copy of the statutory declaration, I was in the same situation.

I would pay the extra for check and send. They can advise.
