Had the letter of invite to the consultation which starts 27th feb and ends 13th March.
The ward manager dropped hints about this last year, a new contract with new job roles that would mean we would be protected from being moved to cover other wards as much.
At present I'm top band 3. If debanded can we refuse then to do certain roles, ie assist with minor surgery like we do now?
The letter states it's a proposal so if we don't agree with what offered, do they back down or can they do it anyway?
I've been in touch with the RCN but I wanted some mumsnet advice. Also how do I make sure that all the hca (all 4 of us) are all singing off the same song sheet. One of them complains and then does what he's told anyway. I've told them that we all need to agree or disagree together .

Its just a consultation meeting, you will need to see what their proposals are. If you're down graded I'd have thought you would only do the job as outlined in a new contract. You should have plenty of opportunities to read the proposed changes, new contracts, any changes to hours or pay. I imagine the unions will be at the meetings too. You cant make your colleagues do anything, they have to listen to the meetings and make up their own minds.

We have our big meeting tomorrow. The rumour mill is rife about what changes could possibly be put in place.
All 4 of us hca have said we will leave rather than be debanded. One has already had a job offer. The other said they would go back into the bank. They aren't at the top of the pay scale and are basically at the top of the lower band. Where as myself and another are at the top.
I am worried about this as I'm the main bread winner in our house, my husband is self employed an yet again hasn't even earned enough to pay tax this year. Pence makes pounds and we can't afford to loose it. The manager said her hands are tied so I assume by this it's come from her managers. I can't realistically see this being a positive outcome for us.

In my experience when they say its a consultation process they usually meant they had decided what was going to happen but they had to put it open to consultation (In the trust I worked in anyway ) .I was redeployed several times , the first time I moved from a ward to a day hospital and the trust gave us protected pay for 12 months as we lost enhancements , after the consultation there would usually be a process of aspirational interviews where they told you what vacancies were available and then it would be a matter of finding jobs for everyone , if there were not enough jobs they would put people who had failed to fit into a substantive post on a redeployment register (where theoretically you were at risk of redundancy ) but in reality they dont really want to pay redundancy so they would usually find you a post somewhere , whilst on the register you would work on a ward or department as normal.

But I would get everything in writing because the managers o worked for were notorious for promising something and then denying they had ever said anything i think you can take your union rep to any meeting .

I have to apply for my own job, they are finding a new job in a different department for one hca, so that they can meet regional specification standards regarding trained nurses.
So rid one of us and bring in more trained. They can't keep the ones they've got now
