Memorandum of Wishes - AIBU

Hi, long story short, but I'm not with the father of my daughter. He pays me an amount each month that we've agreed on for maintenance. If anything happens to my, then our daughter would go and live with him, his wife and her three children. However, in the spirit of what I believe is right, I would like him to be able to receive the same monthly amount to help pay for her, should I die. My solicitor has suggested I include a "Memorandum of Wishes" with my Will, so that the Executors will know.

Has anyone done anything like this? If so, would anyone be willing to help with wording? I've looked at online templates but they seem a bit "OTT".

Every year I update my letter of wishes explaining that to the executors of my estate who would also be the trustees for DD how I would suggest the funds be used. This does not prevent them from doing anything different but gives them an idea. I email it every year and my book keeper keeps the email unopened and destroys it went the next one arrives.

Thanks Lonecatwithkittehn - that's really helpful. Have you done for your letter legally, in other words, using legal jargon, or is it literally a letter that you've written outlining what you would like?

It is not legally written it is just guidance to my executors of how I would like things done. They are both aware of the letter. Ultimately they would be the trustees and the decisions lie with them, but the letter gives them and indication of which decisions I would have made.
