A member of staff cc another member of staff an email sent to me, with person information.
I have been told by the LA this was inappropriate and a breach of policy.

The LA should have a data breach policy whereby they report it to the information commissioners office (I think they have 48 hours to do so from realising the breach occurred). You can always report it to ICO yourself.

Theresnonamesleft · 22/01/2018 21:00

It depends. Other people may be cc’d in because they have specialized knowledge within a specific area.

LIZS · 22/01/2018 21:02

You might never know if someone else was bcc'd in though.

RubyLennoxExists · 22/01/2018 21:07

What do you want to happen? You can certainly report it to the ICO who may or may not take action depending on the seriousness of the breach and its damaging effect and the reason why it was disclosed.
The school/LA are currently under no legal obligation to report breaches (but are advised to do so if sufficiently serious). From May they will have to disclose if sufficiently serious.

I’m not happy because the letter is full of BS, which I have evidence of. If this person reads this BS and thinks that this is fact, then that could be damaging.

The person CC has nothing at all, literally nothing to do with it. I can’t understand.

The school won’t report it, I know that for sure. I’m having a number of issues and this is just the latest crap I’m having to deal with.

Then you have to report it yourself and/or complain to the head or board of governors. You can try putting in a formal complaint to the LA - they may have an interest in it.
And if the information is incorrect then you can make sure it is corrected if held on your child's file.

Sounds more like it's libellous ?

LuluJakey1 · 23/01/2018 23:16

Have you asked why the other person was CC'd in?

The school will have a complaints procedure on its website which you should follow- Head teacher Stage 1, Chair of Governors Stage 2 , plus an appeal stage.

Helllllooooooo · 24/01/2018 00:18

I’m already at a stage3 on a totally unrelated subject and child.
I really don’t want to open up another when I’m so mentally exhausted by the other.
I have awful anxiety and I’m disabled, it’s completely wiping me out. But at the same time this is very serious
