Deed poll

19yo DD has changed her name by deed poll. She hasn't used a solicitor or specialist company, she has done it herself by following the gov.uk site instructions and wording to the letter.

She is now back at university and has gone to the local branches of both her banks to change the name on her accounts but neither bank will accept her document as an official deed poll. Both want things like watermarks and court stamps.

DD then popped into the nearest solicitors office and they were kind enough to take a look and they confirmed that it is written, signed and witnessed correctly and it is absolutely a legal deed poll. They think the staff she saw in the banks are confused between a deed poll and a statutory declaration, or they see so many that look fancy as they're done by companies that charge a lot to do them, that they don't realise that one's done on plain A4 printer paper are just as valid.

Any advice on how she can use this document to to change her details without having to pay out to get another deed poll done by a soliciter/company? Thank you

As far as I'm aware, a deed poll isn't legally required for a name change. A simple declaration of "I've changed my name to XXXXXXX" is sufficient. (If the change isn't being done for nefarious reasons)

I would suggest she send letters to Head Office of both banks recorded delivery advising them of her change of name.

Happy to be corrected though
