Mediation failure, where do i stand?

Hey guys!

So today I had a mediation session with a team my ex partner decided to use. Now I've just learnt that he has lied profusely to the team, and failed to mention anything about his mental health, and the reasons as to why I stopped him having any contact with our DD.

After explaining to situation to mediation, they have stated that they will not be taking the case on, and that my ex is a threat to himself and our DD, and to seek legal advice.

Unfortunately I simply do not have the funds for this currently, but considering I started the mediation process I feel it appropriate to wait for him to make a move with proceedings.

What do I do? I feel like a rock in a hard place, I'm worried this will cost too much, I had to spend £120 today for a 20 minute session to be told no. And they have refused to give me paperwork to back up the reasons as to why they've stated they won't Take the case on...

If anyone has any advice I'd appreciate it!

I'm not an expert but if he doesn't currently have contact and you don't want him to have contact leave the ball in his court. If it's as bad as you say I'm sure a solicitor will advise him against taking the matter further even if he wants to.

I don't understand why the mediator wouldn't give you the paperwork to say it's not appropriate for mediation though. That's what you (or he) would need if you did go to court.

Mediation is confidential; the mediators cannot provide anything about the content of the sessions to court. You could ask them to verify that you attended, though I expect you have your share of the bill to prove that.

You get a certificate from the mediator to say you've attended the information meeting and will not be proceeding with mediation.
